How We
Can Work Together
The
Waltham Partnership for Youth, Inc. invites you to commit yourself and your
business more closely to Waltham's youth. Opportunities that currently exist
are:
-
Career Experience Programs. Join with the Waltham Public Schools in developing
and supporting innovative career education programs. Existing school-year
programs are:
-
Bridging Education and Technology (BEAT) Program
-
Youth Tech Entrepreneurs (YTE) Program
-
Hotel Management/Tourism Program
-
ProStart Restaurant Program
-
Workforce Prep Plus (WP2). This Waltham High School program links a broad
spectrum of community resources, including job-training, to at-risk youth
(ages 14-21) to better prepare them for the workforce.
- Summer
Works Program. Provide youth an opportunity to work in a private or public
sector environment during the summer.
- Be
a "Company on Call." Contribute to and expand the education and career awareness
of youth by sharing:
- Your
time - Be a guest speaker in a classroom or part of a career panel. Mentor
a student at a job site or over the Internet.
- Your
Experience - Provide paid or unpaid internships for students, externships
for teachers, or job shadowing opportunities.
- Your
support - Donate equipment, materials, or products for education and youth
service needs.
- Your
ideas - Share your knowledge by participating in Partnership or program
specific committees to encourage systemic improvements for education and
youth service development in Waltham.
- School
and/or Grade Specific Partnering. Identify with a particular school or grade
for long-term cooperative programs.
-
After School Programming. Support the expansion and further development of
after school activities (academic, technology, arts, recreational, social
service), family literacy, and career opportunities. Help make extended day
programs possible for needy families.
- Contribute
operating funds to the Waltham Partnership for Youth, Inc. Your tax-deductible
contributions are necessary to keep the Waltham Partnership for Youth, Inc.
operating, as the Partnership is entirely dependent upon donations.
